Getting a Library Card in Person

Any resident of Kenosha, Racine, Rock and Walworth Counties may apply for a library card. Children 17 years old or younger need permission from a parent or guardian to receive a card. 

  1. Pick up a Community Library card application at the Salem or Twin Lakes branch or print one here.
  2. Present a picture ID with your current address. If your ID doesn’t have your current address you may present it along with one (1) of the following items: checkbook, utility bill, rent receipt, current postmarked mail, magazine subscription or school report card.  

New library cards are provided at no cost, however, there is a $1 charge for a replacement card. 

Getting a Library Card Online 

You are registering for a library card within the SHARE Library consortium. Your temporary ID will allow you to place holds on library materials. This ID will expire in 30 days. 

  1. To obtain an online card, fill out the online form.
  2. To obtain your permanent library card, visit your local library within Kenosha, Racine, Rock or Walworth county, present a picture ID with your current address. If your ID doesn’t have your current address you may present it along with one (1) of the following items: checkbook, utility bill, rent receipt, current postmarked mail, magazine subscription or school report card.
