Websites for free e-books

Pixel of Ink alerts you to free and reduced e-books available for the Kindle.  If you subscribe to them via e-mail or follow them on Facebook or Twitter, you will be sure not to miss any bargains.  Many types of books appear on the lists—even popular authors.  Kind of like shopping at an outlet store—you just have to look!

eReaderIQ.com
Another site that alerts you to free and reduced priced Kindle books. You can also enter books whose prices that you want to track and the website will send you a notification when the price drops. This is a free service.  Books are categorized and they track children’s books, too.

Monthly free e-book from the University of Chicago Press
Every month the University of Chicago Press posts a free e-book.  Past selections have included: Spiral Jetta: A Road Trip through the Land Art of the American West by Erin Hogan and The Chinese Maze Murders by Robert Van Gulik. Sometimes the book is nonfiction, sometimes fiction. To get the free e-book you just need to submit your e-mail; you will then receive a link to download the book which you can view with Adobe’s Digital Editions software.
