Puzzlepalooza Jigsaw Puzzle Competition
All ages

Come out of the cold and find your inner piece! Check out a 60, 100, 260 or 500 piece puzzle at the Youth Desk, take it to a table and start the timer. Best time for an individual or team, per puzzle, will win a prize at the end of the month. So, you say you can puzzle? Prove it!

Winter Art Show
All ages 

Celebrate creativity at your library! Patrons of all ages are invited to submit one piece of original artwork to be displayed during our Winter Reading Challenge. All mediums welcome and must be suitable for public display.   Drop off your art at the Salem Branch December 22 - January 5.   Size Requirements: Maximum 16" × 20" for flat art, Maximum 12" in any direction for 3D. Artwork will be exhibited throughout the Salem Branch during January and February.

Jigsaw Puzzle Swap
All ages

Refresh your jigsaw puzzle collection by swapping your gently-used puzzles for something new! For each puzzle that you donate, you'll be able to take one home. 

Drop off puzzles at the Salem or Twin Lakes branches January 19-30. Puzzles should be in good condition with no missing pieces and in the original box. You'll receive 1 ticket for each puzzle donated. Tickets will get you into the swap early so you can have first choice.

A teacher and artist from Washington DC, Thomas was known for her vibrant abstract paintings inspired by nature. Students will use markers and colored pencils to layer and create a colorful abstract design.

You might be surprised to learn that the Great Lakes had pirates! Lake Michigan was home to a real pirate named Captain “Roaring” Dan Seavey in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Recent building renovations have exposed a long hidden map which was sealed inside a wall. We are asking you to help us decipher the map and find the location of Captain Dan’s final treasure. Do you accept this mission?
