Join Nick Wiersum, Curator of Education, as he discusses the necessary criteria that scientists use to call something a dinosaur while exploring the skeletons on display. The clever Velociraptor? The massively impressive T. Rex that can’t see you if you don’t move? Join Nick Wiersum, Curator of Education, to learn about what the Jurassic Park movies got right and how they’ve reignited a global passion for paleontology. Displays and an interactive dinosaur dig pit will add to the fun. Learn four or more chords, basic strum patterns and play a few top hits together. Special musical requests encouraged. Bring your own ukulele or some will be available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. Bookmark Design Contest Calling all creative minds! Celebrate the summer reading theme, Unearth a Story, with a bookmark design contest. Design a bookmark that celebrates your library card, books and reading. Entry forms will be available at both branches and need to be submitted by Saturday, August 15. One entry per person. One winner will be selected from each age category: Kids (6-12), Teens (13-18), Adults (19+). Public voting will take place August 18-25 using an online form or in-person. The winning bookmarks will be on display and available for patrons to take home. Have fun and we can’t wait to see what you create! Jigsaw Puzzle Swap Refresh your jigsaw puzzle collection by swapping your gently-used puzzles for something new.Drop off puzzles at either branch July 20-31 and receive one ticket for each puzzle donated.
