Celebrate National Library Week | April 6-12, 2025

National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support. From free access to books and online resources for families to library business centers that help support entrepreneurship and retraining, libraries offer opportunity to all.

This is a fantastic opportunity for patrons to simultaneously pay down library fines while giving back to the community.

Food items will be collected at both Community Library branches (Salem and Twin Lakes) during the week of April 6. Donations made will go to The Sharing Center in Trevor and the Twin Lakes Area Food Pantry.

The library will collect non-perishable food items only. The food item must have a UPC bar code on it, indicating that it is typically sold individually and be non-expired.

All non-perishable food items will be accepted; however, the following items have been requested: soup, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, jelly and canned tuna & chicken.

One food item will pay down $1.00 of library fines (or less). A fine of $0.50 will require one food item, and a fine of $1.30 will require two food items. Change will not be given for the difference.

Food will only be accepted for late fines (not item replacement costs, sale items, or collection agency fees), and there will be no upper limit to how much in fines a patron can satisfy with food donations.
