Kids' Programs Canceled due to forecasted high heat and humidity:
The Hoo's Woods Raptor Center will present an educational and fun experience with three raptors, including a bald eagle. For the safety of the large birds, the program is not geared for kids under 6 years old. Saturday, June 21 | 11am-11:45am | Salem | Register Book Buddies Book Buddies brings children and youth volunteers together to share the joy of reading. We pair trained volunteers (Big Book Buddies ages 10-18) with children in grades K-3 (Little Buddies). Buddies will meet Tuesday evenings for 30 minutes of one-on-one shared reading. Tuesdays | June 24, July 1, 15, 29, August 5 | 4pm-4:30pm or 4:30pm-5pm | Salem or Twin Lakes Register by June 17 Kids develop new skills and experiences while designing unique creations using a variety of materials.

Together, you and your child will explore the relationship between letters and their sounds. We will introduce different phonics-based programs, engage in letter sound games and discuss helpful resources to support struggling readers in becoming confident. Thursday, July 10 | 1:30pm-2:30pm | Twin Lakes | Register Color Craze Do you like coloring in between the lines? Come join us for an hour long coloring session. It will be a color-ific time! Beginning ASL for Kids Learn the basics of American Sign Language. Wednesdays, July 16, August 20 | 6:30pm-7pm | Salem | Register Paws to Read Kids can build their reading confidence by reading to a therapy dog. Reading slots are 10 minutes and are on a first come, first served basis. Registration is not required. Saturdays | July 19, August 9 | 10am-11am | Twin Lakes Readers Theater
Come and practice reading aloud and perform a variety of short skits. Learn to read lines with expression, gestures, theater volume and fluency. Memorization is not required. Parents can attend the last 10 minutes to watch the performance. Mondays, July 21, August 18 | 10am-11am | Salem Register Family Game Night Come and learn a new game or play an oldie but goodie. Fun for the entire family. Some games will be available for check out. Thursday, July 24 | 6pm-7pm | Salem | Register Ukulele Jam with Ms. Kuhlow Music Join us as Ms. Kuhlow teaches how to play the ukulele. Learn four or more chords, basic strum patterns and play a few top hits together. Special musical requests encouraged. Ukuleles will be provided or you can bring your own. Afterwards, stick around to play outdoor games and enjoy hotdogs as we close out our Color My World Summer Reading Program.
