Kids Subscription Book Bags | Ages 6-11 Subscription bags include two library books, a craft, a fun item and a treat. Homeschool Art Class | Ages 8-12 Fresco Painting - Artist: Michelangelo Examine Michelangelo’s frescoes located on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and discuss the techniques he used. Using wet plaster and paint, you will create your own fresco art piece. Thursday, May 2 | 10am-11:30am | Salem Branch | Register LEGO Club | Ages 6-11 We provide the LEGOs, you provide the creativity. Each month, we’ll have a LEGO challenge where your creations will be on display in the library. Please do not bring LEGOs from home. Tuesday, May 7 | 4pm-5pm | Twin Lakes Branch | Register Coding with Ozobots | Ages 9-14 Meet the Ozobots. The robots are half R2-D2, half golf ball and can read colors as coding. Teams will work together to create automation challenges. Paws to Read | Ages 6-11 Kids can build their reading confidence by reading to a therapy dog. Reading slots are 10 minutes and are on a first come, first served basis. Registration is not required.

Crazy 8s Math Club | Ages 8-12 Crazy 8s is the nation's largest recreational after-school math club for young children. Students in 3rd grade through 5th grade explore math through play and engaging in high-energy, hands-on activities. This is the Library's second season participating in this program. We’ll wrap up our Book Club for the school year by completing our discussion of all the Wings of Fire books we've read and complete any unfinished dragon projects. We will also look toward the next school year's book series options. Please come prepared to discuss your favorite books/genres. Beginning ASL for Kids | Ages 6-11 Learn the basics of American Sign Language. Youth Library Gardeners | Ages 8-18 Join us for an informational meeting and walk through the Library’s gardens. The new Youth Library Gardeners will consist of a small group of students working alongside Ms. Jeannie, who want to learn, help plant, care and water the Library’s gardens. Summer work dates will consist of two Tuesday afternoons and two Thursday mornings each month throughout the summer. Dates will be provided on May 18. Space is limited. Saturday, May 18| 9am-10am | Salem Branch | Register Let’s Make Tasty Tacos! | Ages 8-12 Students will learn how to brown ground beef, add seasoning and simmer in an electric fry pan. You will also chop and prepare additional ingredients for building the tastiest tacos. Let’s Make Fried Banana Splits | Ages 8-12 Students will slice, chop and use a griddle to fry a banana to make a delicious treat with special toppings. Hula Hoop Dancing | All ages This instructional program will begin with a performance from professional hula hooper Danielle Lee. Then it's time to get hooping! Participants will learn beginner-friendly hoop moves through the 10-Trick Game. Danielle will lead hoop-based creative movement exploration exercises, partner/group activities, and games. Monday, June 17 | 1pm-1:45pm | Salem Branch | Register Bee Kind to Bees | All ages What animal is as small as a pea, can travel 12 miles daily, and makes one of the sweetest treats on the planet? The Honeybee! Who is responsible for pollinating many of our food crops? Native bees! Learn all the buzz about bees from staff from the Wehr Nature Center.
